Blogging is a fun way to share our interests, thoughts, opinions, and connect with each other. However, there are some things to consider to be safe and respectful.

Privacy:

Use only your first name and if necessary, last initial.

Never give your contact information away.

Keep full names of your friends out of your posts, use initials instead.

Be sure to get a friend’s permission to use their first name in a post or comment.

Tone:

Be polite, friendly and supportive.

When commenting compliment  the author.

Use humor,  but avoid sarcasm.

Content:

Stay on topic – random posts and comments aren’t acceptable.

Be positive and thoughtful when writing posts and comments.

Keep in mind that your posts and comments are out there for the world to see.  Be responsible and use appropriate language.

Conventions:

Use correct grammar and conventions to include proper spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and complete sentences.  Remember, that your writing can be seen by anyone.  Make sure you make a good impression on the world.

(HINT: Try pasting your post in a word processor first and using the spell checker or use an internet spellchecker before posting on your blog.)

Skip the text talk!

Avoid single word sentences such as, “Hi!” and “Bye!”  They don’t contribute anything to the post.

One exclamation mark is enough!  There’s no need to add anymore!!!!!!!!
